The Criterium du Dauphiné Libéré is one of greats classical cycling races preliminary the Tour de France.
This year, the 61st edition has stopped down in Valence. Program at the 4th stage, a 42,5 km individual time-trial starting from Bourg-lès-Valence by the plain of Valence to the Vercors mountains and arriving downtown Valence.
On the podium of the 4rt stage there is Cadel Evans (Silence Lotto) endorsing
the yellow jersey after a second place behind the German time-trial
world
champion Bert Grabsch (Team Colombia-High road).
As the best sprinter he has also endorsed
the green jersey.
5th stage, Valence-Mont Ventoux.
The next day was the
departure of the 5th stage, which led the riders in downtown Valence
to the top of the legendary Mont Ventoux (154 km).
Finally, following the 8 stages, the Spanish Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d'Epargne) won the race for the 2nd consecutive year ahead the Australian Cadel Evans (Silence-Lotto) and Spanish Alberto Contador (Astana).
