Situé
à 5 km de Millau (Aveyron) dans le sud de la France, le viaduc
permet à l'autoroute A75 de "survoler" la vallée
du Tarn à une hauteur de 270m. La hauteur totale de l'édifice
atteint 343 m, (pour comparaison la tour Eiffel mesure 300 m) sur une
longueur de 2500 m. La construction est réalisée par la société Eiffage et l'architecture dessinée par Sir Norman Foster. La photo panoramique présentée ci-dessous montre le pilier N°2 qui, avec ses 245 m de haut, établi ainsi un record mondial ! |
Located
at 5 km [3.1 miles] of Millau (Aveyron) in the south of France, the
viaduct allow motorway A75 "to fly over" the valley of the
Tarn river to a height of 270m (885ft). The total height of the building
reaches 343m (1125ft) (for comparison the Eiffel tower measures 300m
[984ft]) and 2500m [1.55 mile] lenght. Construction is carried out by
the Eiffage company and architecture drawn by Sir Norman Foster. The
panoramic photo presented below shows #2 pier which, with its 245m [803ft]
in height, thus established a world record ! |
